Rayland Air Fluidized Therapy Bed

I. Principle
The medical pneumatic particle suspension bed is a new type of medical bed widely used in many fields of medicine. It resembles a large bathtub, filled with very fine particles, forming a particle bed. The particle filling height is approximately 30 centimeters, and a breathable porous plate is located beneath the particles, ensuring even distribution of compressed air. When filtered compressed air flows upward through the fine particles, the particles flow like water, generating considerable buoyancy, sufficient to allow the patient to float on the flowing particles. This bed suspends the patient using pneumatics and particles, hence the name pneumatic particle suspension bed, commonly known as a "sand bed."
When the patient floats on the flowing particles, the contact area between the body and the particles is quite large, while the pressure per unit contact area is very small. This increases blood flow to the contact areas of the skin, improves skin surface and tissue nutrition, and accelerates skin and tissue growth and healing. Reduced pressure on injured skin surfaces and tissues reduces patient pain and makes the patient feel more comfortable.
When the patient floats on the flowing particles, there are no dead spots on the contact surface between the body and the particles. A suitable amount of clean air flows over the body surface, and wound secretions can flow into the bed, greatly improving the condition of the wound surface and promoting wound healing.

Patients who are bedridden for extended periods are highly susceptible to bedsores, which cause great pain. If the patient lies on a suspension bed, the circulating air and soft support will not only prevent bedsores but also treat existing bedsores.

II. Advantages
This bed has many advantages:
(1) Reduces pressure on the skin surface, provides good breathability, prevents bedsores, and reduces patient pain;
(2) Increases skin surface temperature and blood circulation, promoting wound healing;
(3) Creates a temperature-controlled microclimate, reducing metabolic losses and preventing bacterial growth;

(4) Limits infection of wounds by metabolic products and reduces the need for antibiotics.

III. Comparison of using an air fluidized therapy bed versus a regular bed:

(1) Reduces daily treatment costs by approximately 50%;
(2) Shortens hospitalization time by approximately 27%;
(3) Reduces nursing workload by approximately 46%;
(4) Reduces medication and dressing change costs by approximately 56%;

(5) Reduces various psychological burdens on the patient.

IV. Applications
Burns, intensive care, trauma, dermatology, paralysis, orthopedic surgery, oncology, rehabilitation, geriatrics, and intensive treatment.
